France Allows Seafood Imports From UAE European Fish Trader Published: 01 October, 2002
FRANCE has finally agreed to import fish from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in line with a European Union decision allowing the import of fish from GCC states.
Secretary General of the UAE’s Municipalities, Jasim Mohammed bin Darwish, said that the French authorities had given the official approval for the import of seafood after the EU said that the UAE request for being included in the list of exporting countries to EU markets had met the required health conditions.
•Recent statistics show that the UAE produces approximately 100,000 tonnes of seafood each year, with 50 per cent going for export.
