Plans for Fishstock Brixham 2013 on Saturday 7th September are developing well, according to organisers.

Joining Brixham chefs Andy Sewell, Rob Bateman, Simone Cooke and Gordon Gout on the Castle’s Kitchens Stages will be local celebrities Mitch Tonks, Richard Hunt and Simon Hulstone, plus the S Devon College team led by David Galpin and the Manna from Devon stalwarts David and Holly Jones. There will be a very welcome return by Jacques Marchal and David Ashen. Fresh fish will be provided by the local trawlermen and by Brixham Sea farms.

Entertainment will provided on the two stages by regular locals Maggie Duffy and Mike Weed, Phil and Hannah, Southern Comfort, Swashbuckle, Chris Thomas, Hysteria, M.I.U., These Reigning Days, 59 Ford, Torbay Ukulele Band, Classic Gold, Jumping Out Jazz, The Normals, Empire of Fools, The Old Gaffers, Banned from the Moor, Quay Harmony, Lisa Angharad, Ian Hunt, Dave Styles topped off with two-hours of headline act Duke Johnson and The Scorchers.

Schools and youth groups can take advantage of FREE seafood preparation and cookery classes in the Feast-Bus mobile classroom kitchen. This facility will be on site all-day Friday 6th September and Saturday 7th September. Contact the event organisers to reserve a place in a class of 16 at a time.Boats on show will include: a modern Brixham beam trawler, a “Vivier” Crabber from Kingswear, “Iris” a 1923 Lugger from Looe, the Torbay RNLI lifeboat and, star of the show “Pilgrim of Brixham” one of the small fleet of heritage trawlers, built 1895 in Upham’s Yard, Brixham.

Meanwhile, a coffee morning is planned on Saturday 6th July at the Methodist Hall Brixham 10am to noon to help raise funds for the Brixham Fishermen’s Mission organised by Team Fishstock Brixham.

Members of the public are invited to go along and meet team members and supporters, including John Anderson, Fishermen’s Mission Superintendent.

On Thursday 11th July there will be an evening Spanish Seafood Supper Sunset Cruise aboard historic ship Fairmile, by kind permission of Will Ford and the Greenway Ferry and Pleasure Cruises.

Chef for the evening is Andy Sewell of the Quayside Hotel. Fresh Mussels supplied by Brixham Sea Farms. This event is to raise funds for the Fishermen’s Mission and is organised by Team Fishstock Brixham. Live music will be provided by Chris Thomas.
