Fishing boat owners fined after whiting quota exceeded Published: 12 March, 2013
One co-owner and one co-owner / master were ordered to pay £1,915 each by North Shields Magistrates Court on Friday 8 March for fisheries offences relating to breach of quota limits.
The vessel concerned, the Charisma (BH27), is owned by Mr. Darren Senior and Mr. John Pirie and is also skippered by Mr. Senior.
The alleged offence relates to the exceeding of the monthly quota catch limit for whiting. The offences were discovered from sales notes received at the Marine Management Organisations North Shields office. The notes were crosschecked with other data within the office.
Both men entered guilty pleas in court and were each ordered to pay a fine of £1,465 and £450 costs.
