Fish Technologist to run London Marathon for Seafarers UK Published: 16 February, 2005
TREVOR Misson, a senior fish technologist at Seafish will run the London Marathon for the first time in his life to raise money for
Seafarers UK. Trevor will be joining many other runners at the 25th Flora London Marathon on 17 April 2005 to raise money for the charity that offers financial help and other support to families who suffer hardship as a result of accidents at sea. They also support the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen.
“I’m passionate about fishing and sailing and I have made many friends over the years who share this same interest. People who go to sea know there’s an element of danger there and even with modern vessels and safer working practices accidents happen on fishing boats. I’ve lost a number of friends through accidents at sea,” explains Trevor.
“Without the help of organisations like Seafarers UK and the Fishermen’s Mission, fishermen, their families and communities would not receive the support they need in times of crises.” Trevor is training hard and hopes to run the 26 miles in under four hours. He has already received some donations, with one fishing vessel contributing £500. If you would like to sponsor Trevor please send a cheque, made payable to SFIA, to Ozzie Lobo at Seafish, 18 Logie Mill, Logie Green Road, Edinburgh EH7 4HG. All monies raised will go direct to Seafarers UK.
