EU alert system detects parasites in fresh mackerel Published: 28 September, 2005
THE EU-rapid alert system for week 38 has detected parasites – Anisakis in fresh mackerel (Scomber scombrus) from Norway via Denmark, notified by Italy.
Also, frozen tuna loins had been treated with carbon monoxide. These were from Indonesia via the Netherlands and from Poland via Denmark. These were also notified by Italy.
Consumers can be reassured that products subject to an alert notification have been withdrawn or are in the process of being withdrawn from the market. The Member States have their own mechanisms to carry out such actions, including the provision of detailed information through the media if necessary.
