THE Crown Estate has appointed Paul Bancks as Deputy Marine Estate Manager for Scotland. His area of responsibility will cover the north and east Scottish coastline from Whiten Head to the east of Loch Eriboll in the north, to the English border at Berwick on Tweed.

He will lead The Crown Estate team and marine agents Bell Ingram. Together they will provide additional local representation for leaseholders and a customer focussed approach resulting, the Estate claims, in a better service for stakeholders.

Mr Bancks has an MSc in Marine Resource Management and a BEng (Hons) in Offshore Engineering, both from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh. He joins The Crown Estate from the Met Office and previously worked for the RSPB and Scottish Natural Heritage.

Ian Pritchard, Marine Estate Manager (Scotland), comments: “We’re delighted Paul has joined our team in Scotland. His previous work experience means he has an in depth knowledge of the areas he will be responsible for.

“The Crown Estate in Scotland has recently been restructured, in order to focus our resources more effectively. We will be providing a more customer-oriented approach with a greater number of staff ‘on the ground’. Paul’s appointment is a part of this strategy, and his experience will benefit those involved with The Crown Estate’s marine interests in Scotland.”
