Countryfile to feature carp farm Published: 25 January, 2008
THE UK’s first organic carp farm will feature in an episode of the BBC programme, Countryfile this Sunday.
Based in Devon, Upper Hayne Organic Carp Farm is no stranger to the spotlight, having previously appeared on Channel 4’s ‘Gone Fishing’.
The carp project is the brainchild of husband and wife team, Jimmie and Penny Hepburn. Their carp is the first in the UK to be grown to the Soil Association’s standard for the species.
The Hepburns plan to harvest the first organic carp this year, and will supply restaurants, shops and farmers’ markets.
Countryfile will air on BBC1 this Sunday at 11am.
