PETERHEAD skipper Jimmy Buchan is to feature in a documentary series on BBC1 this week which looks at the lives and work of fishermen working in the North Sea.

The BBC camera crew followed Mr Buchan for several days on his vessel Amity II and went with him to Brussels for the ESE show in May. The camera crew also covered on-shore work for around eight days.

Mr Buchan is hoping that the programmes will promote the industry and show it in a good light, highlighting the work the fishermen do and how it fits into the local community.

Mr Buchan, who is working closely with Seafood Scotland on a marketing development strategy to launch his own branded Amity Scottish Langoustine, will feature in the BBC1 series ‘Trawlermen’.

Tonight’s episode, ‘The Great Prawn Hunt’ will air at 7pm and features a group of trawler fishermen from Peterhead. The series continues until Friday.
