AFOS SALES UP THANKS TO £1M ORDER FROM DOWN UNDER Published: 28 April, 2009
Hull-based smoking kiln and defroster manufacturer AFOS has landed nearly £1m worth of orders from Australias largest aquaculture company.
Tassal which produces more than 12,000 tonnes of farmed salmon a year – has chosen AFOS to help them increase their smoking capabilities.
AFOS have delivered a cost effective solution to upgrade five existing smoking kilns with the latest Siemens computer controlled touch screen technology and dehumidification as well as investing in two new six trolley kilns complete with automatic dehumidification systems.
In addition Tasmania based Tassal will also order a 12 trolley defroster capable of defrosting 30 tonnes of head on gutted fish a day to meet their increased smoking demand.
AFOS sales director Peter Martin said: ‘Tassal are a long standing customer who called us in to carry out a full audit and analysis of their smoking operation.
‘We were able to put forward a cost effective solution which would provide them with the latest technology without having to invest in new kilns.
‘As a result of the upgrade Tassal has achieved greater consistency in terms of output quality; significantly reduced smoking cycle time allowing for more throughput of fish per day and improved yield by approximately 2% in weight.’
AFOS has also picked up a string of defroster orders including supplying large defrosters for Midgelys and New England Seafood International.
