3,000 fishermen feared missing as storm hits Bay of Bengal Published: 25 September, 2006
MORE than 3,000 fishermen are reportedly unaccounted for after storms hit the Bay of Bengal last Tuesday.
Reuters has reported that 120 bodies have been found since the storm began, but there are fears that the missing have been swept away by the bad weather, which is hampering rescue efforts.
Officials, however, believe that the numbers of fishermen missing could have been embellished in order to inflate compensation claims.
