Welcome to the second edition of the FISHupdate Almanac and Diary. Having received a great deal of positive feedback from key industry figures we’ve decided to largely retain last year’s structure

With an impressive blend of interviews and summaries of some of the year’s big news stories, combined with analyses of the latest statistical publications from the catching, processing and aquaculture sectors. Once more we’ve also dipped into the archives to find tales and photos from days gone by – so keep your eyes peeled for fisherfolk of yore, or perhaps even pictures of your younger selves.

AdditionsHowever, despite retaining much of last year’s structure, we’ve decided to add sections highlighting 10 of the most prominent or interesting figures from each of the three sectors – our choices might raise a few eyebrows, but we think they include some of the most dynamic figures from the world of fish.As well as providing a wealth of information the Almanac also serves as a useful desktop tool, thanks to its week-to-view diary, a look ahead to forthcoming events and listings of key industry contacts. We hope you find it a useful aid, an interesting read and – above all – that 2014 proves to be a fruitful year for all those involved in the UK’s catching, processing and aquaculture sectors.
