IFFO (the International Fishmeal and Fish Oil Organisation)has just gained the 100th factory to be certified to its Global Standard forResponsible Supply (IFFO RS).

The Corral factory, operated by Blumar, is located in thesouth of Chile. The CEO of Blumar, Gerardo Balbontin, recently received thefactory’s certificate from IFFO’s Operations Director, Jorge Mora, to mark thespecial occasion.

This news adds strength to the figure quoted earlier in theyear by IFFO that over 60% of the products produced by its members are nowcertified to its independent Global Standard for Responsible Supply forFishmeal and Fish Oil.

Placed in a wider industry context, this represents a thirdof the world’s fishmeal and fish oil production.

The RS standard ensures the responsible raw materialsourcing, safe production and supply of marine ingredients used for agriculture,aquaculture and consumer products.

Gerardo Balbontin said: ‘We have worked hard towardsachieving this recognition and we are delighted to be the 100th IFFO assuredfactory to gain the RS Certification. Compliance is extremely important to usand to our value-chain partners.’
